Our Driftwood Collection should be applied liberally and only requires one coat.. The coverage is approximately 8-10m² per litre, for one liberal coat.. Littlefair’s wood dyes are carefully bottled in the North West of England using the unique formulae created by Mr Littlefair.. Our Driftwood Collection has been specially formulated to both penetrate and coat new or old bare sanded wood to create a textural ‘salty’, weathered effect. It can also be applied to pressure treated, rough sawn or smooth planed wood and on both indoor and outdoor wood such as garden buildings, fences and gates. The more detailed or ‘grainy’ the surface is the greater the effect. So, it's great for distressed or reclaimed wood, from small craft items to large structures.. Mr Littlefair wanted to create a product that would bypass the many and varied methods of producing a ‘driftwood’ effect, most of which are somewhat laborious and frustrating.  He wanted to create a product that would give a ‘salty’ weathered, driftwood appearance with a single, liberal brush coat.. Colour Reproduction. The 'weathered' look shown in the pictures represents the Driftwood Collection applied to rough pine, finished in our water based Extra Strong Matt Varnish.. We endeavour to reproduce our colours and finishes as accurately as possible - both online and in print. However there are a range of factors to consider when comparing our samples to your chosen project: the type and condition of the surface itself may produce a slightly different appearance of the finished colour. Please bear in mind the shape, size and lighting conditions.. Please note: Our Water Based Wood Dyes have a matt appearance when dry and come to life when finished with Littlefair’s Wood Finishing Products.
