ORIGIN: Yerba Mate is a traditional South American beverage made from the dried leaves and stems of the Ilex paraguariensis plant, which is native to the region. Our Yerba is produced in Brazil, a country renowned for its rich Yerba mate tradition. ABOUT: Renowned for both its taste and social significance, Yerba mate is popular among both locals and international consumers. It has a distinct and bold flavour with grassy and earthy notes. BENEFITS: Due to its caffeine and other stimulants (theobromine and theophylline) content, Yerba tea provides a natural energy boost. It is also rich in antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5) and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium and more. USES: Yerba is often shared among friends and family in a social setting. The drink is typically served in a hollowed-out gourd ("mate") and sipped through a metal straw ("bombilla"). It can also be brewed the same way as a normal loose tea. Often used for both hot mate and tereré (cold mate). BREWING: Allow 1½ – 2½ teaspoons per cup. Boil the water and wait for 3 – 4 minutes before pouring it onto the leaves. Steep for 4 – 5 minutes. The brewing time and water temperature can be adjusted based on personal preferences.
