The taper tap has a gradual cutting action, due to the pronounced chamfer of the thread, making it suitable for starting a thread. The plug tap has far less of a chamfer and is used after the taper tap to get close to get to the bottom of the hole. Taper & plug taps, size: M4 thread x 0.7 pitch. Used with Connect adjustable tap holder, Part No. 37021; or T-type tap holder, Part No. 37020. Manufactured from alloy steel.
