Preparing concrete and stone floors for painting Newly laid concrete has to be left for a month in order to set and dry properly. Once you’ve left it a month, use a wire brush to remove any dust. To prevent your concrete floors from cracking or blistering, seal it with a stabilising solution. Alternatively you can pour some of the paint into a container and dilute with 10% water.
