Caravaggio™ pendant light with matt lacquered surface – Design: Cecilie Manz The Caravaggio™ pendant light impresses with its timeless chic, featuring an aluminium lampshade with a matt lacquered exterior and a white interior for ideal light reflection. Caravaggio™ is ideal as a light source above a table or as basic lighting in a room, providing attractive ambient illumination. The fresh, modern design is the work of Danish designer Cecilie Manz, who was exposed to design from an early age by her parents, both of whom were artists. After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and spending a semester abroad at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, she now devotes herself to realising her designs in her own studio. Her work is based on the tradition of Scandinavian design, but features modern elements and, like the Caravaggio™ pendant light, can be harmonised with many contemporary interior design styles and used in a variety of ways throughout the living area. This fascinating pendant light is also ideal for upscale restaurants and hotels. The Caravaggio™ pendant light was launched in 2005 and quickly became a design icon, enriching residential and commercial spaces in Denmark and abroad. Cecilie Manz not only designs lights, but also ceramics, seating and storage furniture, all of which have one thing in common: these practical everyday objects are all characterised by clear beauty, making Cecilie Manz a master of modern minimalism. The Caravaggio™ series of lights by Cecilie Manz is produced by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, which has its origins in 1872, when the carpenter Fritz Hansen from Nakskov obtained a trading licence for Copenhagen. The company, which had already earned a very good reputation in the first decades of the twentieth century and manufactured products by famous designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Kaare Klint, was family-owned for 107 years before 75% of it was taken over by Skandinavisk Holding in 1979 and made fit for the future through high investments. Today, FRITZ HANSEN has transformed itself from a pure manufacturing company into a modern sales and brand company with a stronger focus on the end consumer.

Lamp MastersCecilie Manz’s overall goal with this elegant collection was to create a simple and soft shape that works for both a large and a small pendant. A design icon since its launch in 2005, the Caravaggio family has grown to include table and floor lamps in a range of sophisticated colours and finishes and is more popular today than ever. During the design process the lamp evolved through a series of different shapes, resulting in Caravaggio’s softly feminine lines. The depth of the shade ensures that the pendant doesn’t create glare regardless of the height of suspension. Caravaggio is equipped with a hole at the top to ensure upward-facing light that illuminates both suspension and cable. The textile cable and chrome-plated suspension hardware compliment the curves of the shade, giving the Caravaggio P2 in Matte White a sense of harmony and grace.
