Concert™ pendant light with three-piece metal shade – Design: Jørn Utzon The Concert™ pendant light with its three-part metal shade and etched and frosted glass diffuser does not bear its name by chance. The designer responsible for this beautiful pendant light is none other than Jørn Utzon, the Danish architect who also designed Sydney's iconic Opera House. This lamp design from 2005 has become a design classic. Concert™ provides pleasant, even light and is ideal for illuminating living spaces, but also makes a perfect centrepiece in meeting rooms. The Concert™ pendant light is manufactured by FRITZ HANSEN, a Danish company that still bears the name of its founder, Fritz Hansen, a carpenter from Nakskov who obtained a trading licence for Copenhagen in 1872 and then built up his company there, which is now internationally renowned for high-quality products by famous designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Bodil Kjær, Verner Panton, Christian Dell and Hans J. Wegner.

Lamp Masters

During his work on Concert, Jørn Utzon sought to develop a pendant with a clean and organic appearance. The idea was to use different shades and strengthen the visual expression of the lamp through sharp light. He ended up with quite a characteristic Utzon shade with clear parallels to some of his most famous work. The Concert P1 pendant creates a comfortable glare-free light without compromising on output. Furthermore, the pendant contributes to general illumination of the room, thanks to the light that shines out through the layers. The suspension of the pendant ensures that the lamp emits a comfortable and even light from between the shades. This design also illuminates the cable and the upward-facing components of the lampshade. The lower lampshade directs light into the dish, which diffuses the light. The dish doesn’t soften the light, but ensures that it doesn’t blind, regardless of which height the pendant is suspended from.
