Orient™ pendant light with organically shaped aluminium shade The Orient™ pendant light was designed by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 and has lost none of its stylistic presence. A pendant light whose aluminium shade is individually handcrafted in a wooden mould to create its organic shape, it is ideal for illuminating a dining table or counter, for example. Jo Hammerborg (1920-1982) trained as a silversmith, took part in Denmark's fight for freedom as a saboteur from 1940 to 1945, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and worked as head of design at lighting manufacturer Fog&Mørup from 1957 to 1980. During this time, he created more than 180 lights, which were characterised by his clear design philosophy and his enormous understanding of form, function and aesthetics. For decades, his creations were only available from antique dealers. In 2013, the traditional Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, together with Jo Hammerborg's family, decided to reissue the Orient™ pendant light. For almost 150 years, FRITZ HANSEN has been a guarantee for products of high craftsmanship and exclusive design.

Lamp MastersThe Orient P2 pendant in Matte Aluminium/Oak is a simple, streamlined design with an excellent output of light – and it doesn’t hurt that it’s made from some of the highest-quality materials. It was created by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 for Fog & Møreup, once the most important lighting company in Denmark. 50 years after the pendant was created, Lightyears decided to re-launch Orient in partnership with the Hammerborg family, who are now in charge of Jo Hammerborg’s design archive. The organic shape of the lamp perfectly accentuates the depth of the shade. Thewooden top creates a dynamic transition from the metal shade to the tightly woven fabric cable. At the top of Orient, there are 21 slim, vertical slits that allow light to filter through the shade. The light source is well-hidden by the shape of the lamp. This ensures a soft and comfortable light without glare.
