GUBI Semi pendant light, Ø 30 cm, chrome
Description
Lamp Masters
The Semi pendant in Ø30 Chrome is a distinctive lamp that consists of two quarter-circles with their backs against each other. The characteristically arched and enamelled metal shade creates a diffuse light that is ideal for use over your dining table or kitchen table, where you need extra work light. The unique and timeless appearance of the Semi pendant – not to mention its range of colours and sizes – makes it versatile and well-suited for private and public spaces alike.
Semi was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. It was manufactured in response to the soft and organic shapes of the so-called Cosy Era that dominated the Danish design landscape at the time. Bonderup and Thorup both wanted to manufacture a lamp that offered clean, sharp lines and a geometric shape. Their design was entered into a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, where it won first prize.
The pendant became hugely successful in the 1980s, becoming the best-selling Danish design at one point. It even achieved international recognition that elevated its status to iconic.

Lights.coDecorative pendant lamp Semi with classic chic The two Danish designers Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup are responsible for the design of the pendant lamp Semi. They succeeded in creating a light source that stands out due to its classic shape and creates a very atmospheric lighting effect, which makes Semi suitable for basic lighting in the room and especially as a light source above a table. The harmonious design in concave, upward tapering shape harmonises with many furnishing styles. The two designers Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup have been cooperating since they graduated from the Danish School of Architecture in 1969. They initially worked in the office of architect Henning Larsen. Since then, Bonderup and Thorup have designed, among other things, clocks and business interiors for Georg Jensen, the Arcticum Museum (Finland) and were responsible for the port facilities in Elsinore, from urban planning to the ferry terminal. - high-quality product of the Danish manufacturer Gubi
