Stemlite Table Lamp H42 Black Chrome from Gubi is a relaunch of a true evergreen. When Bill Curry sharpened his pencil in 1960s Los Angeles and got to work, he well and truly hit the mark. He tapped into the zeitgeist and designed a contemporary lamp that was emblematic of his time. In the middle of the Space Race, civil rights movement, export of pop culture, and the looming Cold War, anything was possible. Bill Curry drew a futuristic shape, a vision of what lay ahead: moon landings, jets, computers, and chromed moulding on Cadillacs. The Danish brand GUBI has relaunched the hit, so you can add the first “total look” lamp—where the lampshade and base are one and the same—to your décor to remind you of a time gone by and a distant future. Unlike the original version, this Stemlite has a dimmer feature.
