This protector and standard have been adopted from motor sports because equestrian sports do not yet have their own European certification for this type of protector. In motor sports, comparable levels of impact occur during a fall, which is why this type is permitted in equestrian sports. The aim of various parties is to use the same certification for this within a few years in order to provide clarity in the market.
