Lights.co Dimmable LED table lamp Pipistrello, height adjustable Pipistrello is a classic lamp that has not only won several awards, but is also exhibited in numerous museums worldwide. Its slim but striking design makes an impression and gives the LED table lamp a unique look with recognition value. The base is equipped with a telescopic device from the middle, which is made of satin stainless steel and immediately comes into focus. It allows the height of the lamp to be adjusted from 66 to 86 cm. The semi-circular shade made of plastic is enthroned on this striking base and creates a diffuse light due to its opal surface, which is radiated all around into the room. Divided into four elements, the shade also looks very elegant and unique. The light can be adjusted in brightness via the integrated dimmer on the cable, which allows Pipistrello to adapt to the situation and create a pleasant general lighting as well as a cosy mood for relaxing. The origin of this series can be traced back to 1965. Pipistrello was created by the Italian designer and architect Gaetana "Gae" Aulenti (1927-2012) for the manufacturer Martinelli Luce, which still produces the table lamp today.

Lamp Masters

The world-famous Pipistrello table lamp was designed by the female designer and architect Gae Aulenti in 1965. Aside from her numerous architectural masterpieces, including the refurbishing of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the restoration of the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Aulenti has also designed products for Artemide, Louis Vuitton, and Martinelli Luce. The table is inspired in equal parts by a sharp focus on function and the organic shapes of nature. The lampshade is designed to look like the wings of a bat, hence the name that means ‘bat’ in Italian. Just like various other designers in post-war Europe, Gae Aulenti is fascinated by the new avant-garde school of design, and this fascination is reflected in the lamp’s experimental touch. The lamp consists of a lacquered metal stand, a stainless steel telescope stand that makes it easy to adjust the height of the light, and a lampshade made from opal-white methacrylate. The on/off button is located on the cable.
