Quite possibly, the most sustainable craft rum in the world in their B-Corp certified rum distillery Montanya’s long list of sustainability credentials include plastic neutral certification, 100% wind powered, offset 110% of their carbon production and use water from a snowmelt-fed aquifer directly underneath the distillery. Environmental obligations are considered at every step, from sourcing sugarcane from a family run co-operative in Louisiana, to bottling in Cradle to Cradle certified glass and FSC graded labels. Valentia ages for four years in Laws Whiskey House American white oak barrels and finishes six to twelve weeks in a Rye barrel from Catoctin Creek, also female owned and female distilled. All Montanya rums are sustainably made, but Valentia takes it to the next level as an ode to the progress women have made in world of rum. Distilled by women, it is an aromatic spirit with a natural sweetness and notes of vanilla, cardamom, ginger, honeysuckle and white flowers with a spicy rye finish. No added sugar, sweetening or colouring of any kind.
