BOLD, RICH AND COASTAL JAPANESE SINGLE MALT WHISKY - Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a rich and coastal single malt whisky made at the Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, Japan. The distillery is situated at the mouth of the river Yoichi and has been named after its water source FULL -BODIED AND SMOOTH WITH NOTES OF PEAT, APPLE AND SPICES – Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is made predominantly from peated barley which gives soft smoke and an oily richness. It is aged in a combination of American oak and sherry casks, so it is smooth, with candied citrus, nutmeg and ginger notes. The sea air surrounding the casks gives a maritime character to this whisky MADE USING TRADITIONAL METHODS - Yoichi is still made in the same way that Taketsuru learned on his visit to Scotland in 1918-1920. Yoichi is the only single malt distillery in the world to use coal-fired pot stills for distillation, this technique adds body and richness to the whisky ICONIC JAPANESE WHISKY - Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru; often referred to as “The Father of Japanese Whisky”; Taketsuru travelled to Scotland in 1918, returned to Japan and combined Scotch production techniques with Japanese precision to create Nikka BEST ENJOYED NEAT OR ON THE ROCKS - Yoichi Single Malt is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to allow the earthy smoke and candied citrus notes to shine
