Northern Dark grey hanging light Dokka, made of steel
Description
Lamp Masters
Dokka Pendant Dark Grey is a little lamp with a big story. This charming pendant has roots all the way back to 1954 and was the first Norwegian-designed lamp to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious Milan Triennale. It was recognized for its streamlined shape, precise proportions, use of materials and approach to fabrication.
From day one, Dokka had the potential to be a classic. It quickly became one of the best-selling pendants ever produced in Norway. Unfortunately, it disappeared from the shelves just as quickly when its then-manufacturer decided to get out of the lighting business.
In 2007 Northern relaunched Dokka, taking pains to remain faithful to the original. Recently Northern added three lovely new matte colours to supplement the original black and white - Aqua Green, Petrol Blue and Dark Grey. The original shades also got a bit of an update to make sure that all six colours worked well together.
Dokka is built to last, both in terms of its classic and because it’s a solid and robust lamp. Fabricated from steel and finished with a high-quality paint job, Dokka is as popular now as it was over 60 years ago and we can picture this iconic pendant being a sought-after antique 200 years from now.

Lights.coBack to 1954 with the Dokka pendant lampThe Dokka model is a small lamp with a great history. It was born in 1954, when the Norwegian designer Birger Dahl designed Dokka and created a Norwegian design classic. The pendant lamp quickly became the best-selling Norwegian luminaire and was the first in its country to win the "Golden Medal" at the Triennale di Milano. More than five decades later, the design lamp manufacturer Northern Lighting is now producing a new edition of this post-war classic - in new colours, but still in the familiar shape and quality. The shade made of steel has a timeless elegance and is covered with a matt, dark grey lacquer.
