Description

Osmo Top Oil is a microporous hard-wax-oil finish designed to protect wooden kitchen worktops, tables and other surfaces. It creates a durable, water-repellent layer that helps resist common spills such as water, juice and wine while allowing the wood grain to show through with a slightly transparent, natural or dark oak appearance depending on the chosen variant. Formulated from vegetable oils and waxes, the product is food safe and suitable for use on surfaces that come into contact with food. It is also described as saliva-resistant and sweatproof, making it appropriate for children's toys and high-traffic areas. The finish provides long-term protection, while remaining breathable to help prevent cracking or peeling over time. Coverage is approximately 24 m² per litre with one coat, and the finish can be spot-repaired without sanding. Typical drying times are 8–10 hours per coat, with full curing taking 2–3 weeks. Applications are suitable between +5°C and 35°C, and the product supports easy maintenance due to its durable, hardwearing surface.

It offers a moisture and chemical resistant barrier that simplifies cleaning, with liquids beading on the surface for easy wipe-down. The wax-oil formula is designed to be applied thinly and re-coated as needed to maintain protection.

  • Microporous, breathable finish that won’t crack or peel
  • Water, wine and other spills bead and resist stains
  • Food safe (EN 1186) and safe for toys (EN 71.3)
  • Coverage about 24 m² per litre per coat
  • Suitable for worktops, tables, desks and shelving
  1. Prepare wood by stripping old finishes and filling imperfections.
  2. Sand, wipe and apply wax oil thinly.
  3. Dry for 8–10 hours, add a second coat for extra shield.
  4. Get fully cured floors in 2–3 weeks with no sanding needed for spot repairs or future applications.
