Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint is a water-based coating designed for durability and long-lasting protection, suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It can be applied directly to rust and does not require a primer. The finish is matt and grey, with a typical coverage of about 8 m2 per litre. It provides up to 15 years of protection and dries to a showerproof surface in 30 minutes. Recoat time between coats is 2–4 hours, with 2–3 coats recommended for maximum protection. Preparation is simple: surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease; remove loose rust or paint with a wire brush or sandpaper, and lightly sand previously painted surfaces in good condition. The product is water-based with low VOC and can be applied using a brush, roller, or sprayer on bare metal, cast iron, galvanised steel, aluminium, stainless steel, wood, and PVC.
