Description
Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Oil nourishes and protects your decking while enhancing its natural beauty. Designed to withstand changeable weather conditions, this decking oil is tough against general wear and tear and, importantly, lasts twice as long as standard decking oils.
Key Features
- Lasts twice as long as standard decking oils
- Rainproof in just 90 minutes
- Protects against scuffs and scratches
- Restores lost wood oils due to weathering
- Prevents wood from greying and splitting
Preparation for Oiling
Before applying Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Oil, ensure your decking is completely dry and the temperature is above 10°C.
# Untreated, Weathered Decking
For untreated decks that have greyed due to weathering, use Ronseal Decking Restorer. This product restores the natural colour of your decking, ensuring the oil adheres effectively.
# Previously Treated Decking
Clean your previously treated decking with Ronseal Decking Cleaner and Reviver to remove dust, grease, oil, mildew, and algae. If there are any loose, peeling, or flaking patches, these must be removed to avoid uneven oil application. In cases where you're transitioning to a different colour, you will need to strip the existing treatment thoroughly with Ronseal Decking Stripper. Also, protect cut ends using Ronseal Decking End Grain Preserver.
# New Wood
New decking typically comes with some waterproofing treatment, which can hinder the adhesion of the oil. To prepare, scrub the surface with Ronseal Decking Cleaner and Reviver, then rinse thoroughly—ideally with a pressure washer. Let your deck dry fully, checking for water beading; if water beads on the surface, further cleaning will be required.
Application Instructions
To apply the oil, shake the can vigorously for a couple of minutes. Pour the oil into an appropriate container, and dip your brush or applicator pad. Before full application, test the colour on a small, hidden section of your decking.
Starting from the furthest corner, apply the oil along the length of the boards, working on 3-4 boards at a time to prevent overlap marks. Two coats are needed, with a drying time of 4 hours between each coat. Your decking will be ready for use after 24 hours.
Aftercare
Regular cleaning is essential to maintain your decking's appearance and condition. Use a stiff brush to remove dirt, grime, and vegetation. For repairs, simply sand the damaged area and apply a coat of decking oil for full restoration.
Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Oil offers a robust, lasting solution that beautifies and protects your outdoor space, making it easier than ever to enjoy your decking in all seasons.
