Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus Translucent Woodstain is a low-build, solvent-borne, semi-gloss woodstain designed for use as both a base stain and a finishing coat. It is highly translucent to enhance woodgrain while providing protection against mould and algae, UV radiation, peeling, and cracking. The formula is microporous and water-repellent, suitable for exterior timber surfaces. It can be used on exterior softwood and hardwood substrates such as cladding, fascias, soffits, rough-sawn timber, and fencing, and as a base stain for windows and doors or as a finishing coat on joinery. It may be used alone on cladding, decking, and garden furniture, or as a base stain before applying Cetol Filter 7 Plus or Cetol THB Plus. Do not use it as a finish for hardwood timbers. The product is available in Teak, comes in a 5 L size, and is intended to enhance and protect wood surfaces over time.

Applications and usage

Suitable for exterior softwood and hardwood substrates including cladding, fascias, soffits, rough-sawn timber, and fencing. As a base stain, it is readily absorbed to provide a sound base for finishing coats and can be used alone on cladding, decking, and garden furniture. It can also be used as a base stain before applying Cetol Filter 7 Plus or Cetol THB Plus on windows and doors. Important: it should not be used alone as a finish for hardwood timbers.
