So you'll only need to replace them once during the lifetime of your detectors. An indicator light shows you the status of your detectors: normal operation, malfunction, end of life... But make sure you test them regularly to make sure they are working properly. The detectors have highly sensitive photoelectric sensors. Therefore, they will talert you quickly in the event of a fire, even a smouldering one.
