Amazon BEYOND THE MINIMUM — INCLUDES 2 to 4-YEAR-OLD EAUX-DE-VIE — Unlike most VS Cognacs blended to the legal minimum of two years, Braastad VS includes eaux-de-vie that have been matured for up to 4 years in small Limousin oak casks in the family's private cellars at Jarnac. This investment in older components gives the VS a roundness and complexity that belies its entry-level classification. FLORAL NOSE WITH ALMOND, ROSES AND FRESH OAK — Yellow-gold in colour. The nose is fresh and inviting: floral aromas of roses and marguerites, almond and fresh new oak. On the palate it is slightly creamy, pleasant and lively with a dry finish of clementine and citrus zest. An accessible, well-made entry to the Braastad range with more character than its price suggests. IWSC SILVER MEDAL — INTERNATIONAL WINE AND SPIRIT COMPETITION LONDON — Braastad VS received the Silver Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London in 2007, judged against hundreds of VS-category Cognacs from the world's leading houses. The IWSC award confirms what the tasting notes suggest: this is a VS Cognac that punches above its weight. FROM THE TIFFON-BRAASTAD ESTATE IN JARNAC — The VS is blended from Cognacs sourced primarily from the Bons Bois and Fins Bois crus, aged in Limousin oak casks at the family's Chateau de Triac estate in Jarnac. This 40-hectare estate has been producing Cognac since 1875 under the Tiffon name and since 1919 under the Braastad brand, following the marriage of Norwegian founder Sverre Braastad into the Tiffon family. SIPPING AND MIXING VERSATILITY — At 40% ABV the VS is well-balanced for neat sipping neat or over ice, as well as in classic Cognac cocktails including the Stinger, Brandy Alexander or a simple Cognac and ginger ale. An ideal introduction to Braastad's house style for those new to the brand, and an excellent everyday Cognac for established fans. Presented in the elegant Braastad bottle with heritage gold-and-black labelling.
