Dulux Trade Quick Dry Wood Primer Undercoat 5L

A versatile water-based primer and undercoat designed for interior and exterior woodwork and a range of backing substrates. It delivers high opacity and strong adhesion, helping to create a sound base for topcoats on surfaces such as wood, fibre hardboard, fibre insulating board (excluding fire retardant-treated types), chipboard, and even MDF. The product is quick to dry, recoating can be achieved within a few hours, and its dual purpose formulation makes it suitable for priming and undercoating in a single application. Applications are supported by practical thinning guidelines to suit sealing new or bare surfaces and for standard use, while maintaining a balance between performance and ease of use in varying conditions.

This primer is water-based and low odour, helping to minimise environmental impact and user disruption during application. It provides up to 13 m² coverage per litre on most surfaces, enabling efficient project progress. Drying times are influenced by temperature and humidity, with touch dry typically in about an hour and recoating possible after a couple of hours. The product is suitable for a wide range of interior and exterior wood-related substrates and is designed to deliver excellent opacity and adhesion.

Usage

1. Thinning for sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
2. Thinning for normal use: Should not exceed 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
3. Recoat when appropriate, considering temperature and humidity
