Kaiser idell™ table lamp by Christian Dell with high-gloss finish The Kaiser idell™ table lamp features the characteristic basic shapes of modernism: circle, cylinder and sphere. In 1931, Christian Dell (1893-1974), a German silversmith and teacher of industrial design who was already working as a master craftsman in the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar and was known for his innovative designs, created a series of lights called Kaiser idell™, which also includes pendant, wall and floor lamps. The asymmetrical lampshade and the ability to swivel 15 degrees to both sides make the Kaiser idell™ table lamp a versatile everyday companion. It is ideal for use as a desk lamp, for example. Kaiser idell™ is manufactured by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN. The company still bears the name of its founder, a carpenter from Nakskov, Denmark (since 1979, 75% of the company has been owned by Skandinavisk Holding). He obtained a trading licence for Copenhagen in 1872 and established a furniture manufacturing company in 1885, which quickly became known for its high quality standards and became one of the leading companies in this field in the 1930s thanks to its steam bending of beech wood. Pieces by many well-known designers, including Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen and Kaare Klint, have shaped the history and success of the company.

Lamp MastersKaiser Idell was silversmith Christian Dell’s suggestion for a Bauhaus lighting collection – it doesn’t get more original than that. The Kaiser Idell Table Lamp model 6556-T in high-gloss white offers precision techniques and excellent craftsmanship. Its unique and high quality exudes originality, but also offers exceptional sculptural quality and a stringently clean design. The collection is focused on the patented swivel joint and the incredibly characteristic shade is easy to recognise, thanks to the stamp on the top that confirms the project to be an “ORIGINAL KAISER-idell”. The original lamps in the collection started selling in 1936 and to this day, they are characterised by their excellent German design, impeccable choices of material, and precision technique.
