Design pendant lamp Suspence™ in Scandinavian style The Suspence™ pendant lamp design picks up on Scandinavian functionalism, where form and function are paramount but form a perfect symbiosis with aesthetics. GamFratesi, the creative minds behind this lamp design, were inspired by the movement of a drop of water floating in the air. The result is a shade made of aluminium with a soft, flowing shape that radiates perfect harmony. The light that Suspence™ emits directly downwards through a white polycarbonate diffuser also has a harmonious effect. This is a wonderful way to illuminate a table, for example. GamFratesi, behind this combination of names stand the architect Stine Gam from Denmark and the architect Enrico Fratesi from Italy, who, thanks to their cross-cultural backgrounds, can draw on the classic Danish design and craft tradition as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. A minimalist formal language characterizes the designs of GamFratesi. This fascinating pendant lamp, which fits to many modern furnishing variations, is produced by the Danish manufacturer FRITZ HANSEN, a company that was founded in 1872 by the carpenter Fritz Hansen, when he received a trading license for Copenhagen. Already in the first half of the 20th century, FRITZ HANSEN was known for its first-class quality in the furnishing of larger projects, such as the Supreme Court in Copenhagen, the University Library and the City Hall in Copenhagen. FRITZ HANSEN has always worked with well-known architects and designers, including Arne Jacobsen, Anne Qvist, Bodil Kjær, Cecilie Manz, Hans J. Wegner, Christian Dell and many others. After almost 100 years of pure family ownership, 75% of the company shares were transferred to Skandinavisk Holding in 1979, which led the company into the new millennium with extensive innovations.

Suspence P2 in Matte Grey is an incredibly simple and elegant pendant with an organic shape. GamFratesi has translated movement into a physical form by figuring out what happens when you pull certain materials. This is clear from the top of Suspence, which gives the impression that the cable has been pulled through the lamp. It also seems as though the lamp and the cable are one and the same component. Inside the shade is a diffuser which is easy to remove when putting in the bulb. This diffuser ensures that the light is glare-free and its arched shape creates an optical illusion that makes it appear as though the lamp is matte on the inside. Hence the name ‘infinity diffuser™’.
