The Model 597 Cream Fringe table lamp is an innovative and interesting piece of design art and has been since the lamp was first launched back in 1961 by Italian designer Gianfranco Frattini. Model 597 was the lamp that put Frattini on the map of famous lamp designers, and since then he has created exciting and creative lamps, always with an unconventional and playful approach that rethinks the classic lighting concept. The lamp is shaped like a cylinder with nylon fringes on the outside, partly inspired by the fashion world and partly by the fringed curtains that were a fixture in the shops and pubs of 1950s Italy. Behind the fringe are no less than seven E27 sockets in a circle that emits light to all sides. The light penetrates the fringe to create a pleasant indirect lighting around the lamp. Model 597 is available as a floor lamp and in a smaller version as a table lamp.
