Handcrafted Samurai paper table lamp – with dimmer The Samurai LED table lamp is a unique, handcrafted piece. With its sweeping body, it exerts a fascinating, captivating effect on the viewer. The two legs and upward-reaching antennae convey an almost animalistic image. The paper lamp body is illuminated from within by warm white LEDs, which perfectly highlight the unique surface structure of the paper. Inspired by the works of Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi, Ingo Maurer and Dagmar Mombach designed the "The MaMo Nouchies" lamp collection in 1998 – a play on words combining the three names Maurer, Mombach and Noguchi. At the time, Isamu Noguchi designed handmade table, floor and ceiling lights made of shoji paper – the Akari Light Sculptures. Maurer and Mombach also released a collection of organic-looking lights made from elaborately crafted paper. These are created in numerous handcrafted steps at the factory in Munich. The thin paper is folded and pulled into the desired shape. Samurai comes with a cord transformer with a slider for brightness control.
