Lamp Masters The Bestlite BL7 wall lamp, designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930, features elegant, clean lines with clear references to the Bauhaus period. With its modern look and range of colours, the Bestlite BL7 wall lamp is ideal for the hallway, as a bedside lamp or above the kitchen table. Hang them individually or combine them in pairs to create an expressive light source. Bestlite lamps were first used in the Royal Air Force Engineering Department due to their high functionality. Architects’ Journal named Bestlite the first example of Bauhaus in Britain, drawing the attention of design-conscious individuals to the lamp. Public demand soon followed, and when Winston Churchill personally chose his Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his desk, the lamp’s iconic status was secured. The Bestlite design remains closely tied to its industrial roots. The lamps are on permanent display at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. Throughout their long history, Bestlite lamps have been cherished by architects, designers and design enthusiasts alike, and remain modern classics to this day.

Classic BL7 designer wall light with a swivelling and tilting head First introduced in 1930, the BL7 wall light is part of the famous Bestlite series of lights by Robert Dudley Best (1892–1984), which also includes floor lamps, pendant lights and table lamps inspired by the Bauhaus style. The BL7 features a brass-coloured frame; the minimalist metal lampshade is attached to the short arm. A ball joint allows the lampshade to be both rotated and swivelled, ensuring that the light can be directed to suit individual needs. A cable with a plug allows it to be connected to a power point. Whether in a private setting or a commercial environment, the BL7 wall light suits many interior styles and provides even supplementary lighting. After the BL7 wall light had been manufactured by Best & Lloyd for many years, the Danish company Gubi took over production in 2004.
