Lamp Masters The Bestlite BL7 wall lamp, designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930, features elegant, clean lines with clear references to the Bauhaus period. With its modern look and range of colours, the Bestlite BL7 wall lamp is ideal for the hallway, as a bedside lamp or above the kitchen table. Hang them individually or pair them to create a striking light source. Bestlite lamps were first used in the Royal Air Force Engineering Department due to their high functionality. Architects’ Journal named Bestlite the first example of Bauhaus in Britain, drawing the attention of design-conscious individuals to the lamp. Public demand soon followed, and when Winston Churchill personally chose his Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his desk, the lamp’s iconic status was secured. The Bestlite design remains closely tied to its industrial roots. The lamps are on permanent display at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. Throughout their long history, Bestlite lamps have been cherished by architects, designers and design enthusiasts alike, and remain modern classics to this day.
